An audit of Eclampsia and Comparison with Data Collected 10 years AGO

Abstract
To compare data in the present setting and 10 years ago to see trends and changes. A one year study on the frequency and outcome of eclampsia was conducted in the Gynae A unit of LRH, peshawar Pakistan. A total of 75 cases of eclampsia were admitted from first January 1998 to 31st December 1998. However data of only 60 patients was available for analysis. In comparison 10 years ago few differences were noted with a 26% increase in cases of antenatal eclampsia over the past ten years, a 17% fall in tehincidence of eclampsia in primigaide and a 15% increase in multigravidae. The hospital stay has increased from an average of 5 days to 8.4 day.s 90% of the women presented before 30 years of age in both the cases. 20% of patients presented with fits at a lowere BP compared to 10 years earlier.
