FOCUS & SCOPE OF JPMI

The Journal of Postgraduate Medical Institute (JPMI), the official journal of Postgraduate Medical Institute, Peshawar, Pakistan is a peer reviewed, open access, multi-disciplinary medical journal that publishes scientific research articles related to biomedical sciences. It covers a wide range of medical fields including basic medical sciences, medical & dental subspecialties, rehabilitation medicine, allied health sciences, clinical psychology, public health and medical educational research. The target audience are medical graduates, post-graduates, post-doctoral, and health professionals. It publishes original papers, narrative and systematic review articles, case reports, short communication, special communication, viewpoint, research study protocols, editorials and letters to the editor. All research articles are subject to peer review process. JPMI is a strong advocate of ethical medical journalism and promotes the integrity of science by practicing highest standard of research and publication ethics. Any misconduct noticed during or after publication in JPMI will be dealt according to COPE guidelines.

 

EDITORIAL POLICY OF JPMI

JPMI is the official journal of Postgraduate Medical Institute Peshawar Pakistan, published on Quarterly basis. JPMI follows the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals (updated on http://www.icmje.org/recommendations/). JPMI also follows the policies of World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) and Pakistan Association of Medical Editors (PAME).

ARTICLE PROCESSING & PUBLICATION CHARGES (APC)

JPMI will charge Pak Rs 8,000 only (including Rs 2000 as processing fee and Rs 6000 as publication fee+ postal charges of 2 hard copies) on original articles only (Case report, review article, letter to editor and guest editorial are exempted from processing fee). Articles are processed only after the receipt of processing fee.

WAIVER POLICY

JPMI offers a complete or partial fee waiver on a case-to-case basis for Undergraduate Medical students of Pakistan as well as authors from low-income countries (WHO-HINARI Group A countries list available from URL: http://www.who.int/hinari/eligibility/en/)


OPEN ACCESS, COPYRIGHT & PERMISSIONS

Journal of Postgraduate Medical Institute is an OPEN ACCESS JOURNAL which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. This is done on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge

Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION OF PRINTED JOURNAL

Annual subscription of printed journal for institution and individuals: PKR 10000 in Pakistan and USD 150 for overseas. Online access to full text is free to all readers.

 

PLAGIARISM AND PUBLICATION ETHICS POLICY

JPMI is a member of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) UK and follows the COPE guidelines for promoting integrity in research and its publication. All articles submitted to JPMI are screened through Turnitin software for similarity index.


PEER REVIEW POLICY

JPMI is a peer reviewed journal following Blind peer review system. JPMI is having a panel of peer-reviewers with diversity in knowledge, viewpoint and expertise in relevant specialties. Details of the Peer review policy is given in Editorial Policies of Postgraduate Medical Institute as well as in Instructions to Authors published in printed version of journal.

Due to blind peer review policy, review details are not shared publicly, however can be shared to Indexing agencies, Higher Education commission Pakistan & Pakistan Medical Commission on demand or during journal evaluation process, as the case may be.

 

COMPLAINT POLICY

If any reader, author or reviewer has any complaints against the journal, its staff, editorial board or publisher, it may be submitted to editor@jpmi.org.pk through an email with a subject mentioning complaint. Complaints may also be submitted regarding issues related to inappropriate authorship, gift and ghost authorship; undeclared conflicts of interests, plagiarism, multiple, duplicate, concurrent publication/simultaneous submission, unethical research; fabrication/falsification of results, selective reporting; research standards violations, reviewer bias/competitive harmful acts by reviewers or any contribution to JPMI that infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights. JPMI will investigate the complaint and after enquiry report JPMI will establish a decision about the complaint, which will be communicated to all relevant quarters. Although every effort is taken to improve the standard of JPMI and to make it free from errors, however, we accept that occasionally mistakes might happen and JPMI welcomes highlighting any error or mistake.
