Abstract
It is an old malady which was known to Indians, Egyptians and Greeks. Literary meaning is "sweet water flowing through siphon". An egymptian Ebers Papyrus in 1550 BC described it as a disease with body wasting, thirst and polyurea. Avicenna further described it in 1000 AD.
