Endoscopic Interpretation of Symptomatology of Patients with Upper Gastro-intestinal Problems: A Review of 1390 Cases

Abstract
This study conducted t Lady Reading Hospital and Hayat Shaheed Teaching Hospital, Peshawar included 1, 390 patients of both sex. Upper gastro-intestinal (GI) endoscopy was done in all for their various upper GI symptoms. The aim of this study was to find out the exact endoscopic interpretation for the varied upper gastro-intestinal symptoms prevailing among the patients of NWFP and for that reason to rationalize the treatment strategies.
The commonest findings were oesophagitis, gastritis predominantly Type B (antral), and duodenitis. Next on the list were chronic peptic ulcer, oesophageal varcies, and carcinoma oesophagus and carcinoma stomach in that order. There were no deaths or complications in this study.
