Abstract

Though fuduscopy gives the observer a unique opportunity to visualize the blood vessels of retina, however, it gives little information regarding the blood flow and the retinal and choroidal vasculature. It also does not provide us suble changes in the blood ocular barrier. When an organic dye like sodium fluorescein is injected intravenously. It circulates through the retinal and choroidal vasculature. When the dye circulates, it will reveal any abnormalities in the blood retinal barriers and also any changes in the sensory retina, pigment epithelium, sclera, choroid and optic nerve. this powerful diagnostic procedure is called fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA).
