Study of Etiologic Spectrum of Moderate and Large Pericardial Effusions
Main Article Content
Abstract
it is a prospective study regarding the etiology of moderate and large pericardial effusion for which no large scale study has been done in the country. On the work up of 102 case of moderate and large pericardial effusions, 36% tuned up to be having confirmed tuberculosis while 26% cases had high suspicion of tuberculosis. Pyogenic effusion cases were 8% only and were present in younger age group, were much less in number pointing to the fact that tuberculosis was the commonest etiology, justifying antituberculous empirical therapy in our setup.
