Methemoglobinemia
Main Article Content
Abstract
Methemoglobinemia is a rare cause of cyanosis. It may be acquired (due to drugs and chemicals) of hereditary. Diagnosis is based mainly on suspicion and good clinical acumen, when cyanosis is present in the absences of clubbing and any other positive finding in cardio-respiratory system. Clearly it is an abnormality of hemoglobin metabolism rather than a cause of anemia.
